I would love to see a similar study done with graduate students. On the surface I would think we are motivated by purpose and mastery and not money (that might in fact be the definition of a grad student) but based on the "stereotype" of miserable, demotivated, procrastinating, grad student and the slave-driving supervisor (more papers! more grants!), I wonder if maybe that isn't what's happening at all...A sampling from PhD comics below-MA
